Our Hospital
North Carolina Children's Hospital, newly built in 2002, is designed to meet the physical and psychological needs of sick or injured children and their families. The architecture is bright and colorful, with interactive gizmos, interesting sculptures and playful art.
And because many of our patients have conditions that cause frequent
or long-term hospital stays, the Children's Hospital has several
specialty areas that offer places to escape and "just be a kid." Places
like the Jason Clark Teen Activity Center, complete with a teen lounge,
several video gaming systems, and arcade-style entertainment such as
air hockey. Or the Sigma Sigma Sigma Foundation Robbie Page play
atrium, a two-story indoor park. These and other areas like the
Recreational Therapy Room and the Charles Goren Music Room provide
countless hours of entertainment and fun for our patients.
The hospital has 140 inpatient beds and a comprehensive Children's
Outpatient Center located in the same building, a first for North
Carolina.
