Pediatric Diagnostic Referral Service
Specialists in the Center for Pediatric Diagnostic Referral evaluate complex diagnostic dilemmas. We offer appointments on Wednesdays at the N.C. Children’s Specialty Clinic in Raleigh for those needing comprehensive medical evaluations. We often evaluate:
- Children experiencing a variety of complex symptoms of unknown cause. These might include failure to thrive, constipation or abdominal pain, unexplained fevers, or other problems.
- Patients who do not fit into a particular specialty category are also excellent candidates for referral.
- Patients requesting a second opinion.
Our providers are part of the UNC Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at N.C. Children’s Hospital. We aim to coordinate services for children with multispecialty needs and expedite access to the appropriate pediatric medical and surgical subspecialty care with our colleagues at UNC as needed. In addition, we provide follow-up care for Children’s Hospital patients with ongoing care needs, such as those with PICC lines and those requiring multispecialty follow-up.
