Pediatric Endocrine and Diabetes Clinic
Our Pediatric Endocrine and Diabetes Clinic is an
extension of the outpatient clinical services offered by
the
UNC Division of
Pediatric Endocrinology at N.C. Children's Hospital. The program,
comprised of pediatric endocrinologists, nurse practitioners and a
dietitian, earned the Children’s Hospital the distinction of ranking on
U.S. News and World Report’s 2010-2011 “America’s Best Children’s
Hospitals” list.
Specialists within the Pediatric Endocrine and Diabetes Clinic care for children with diseases and disorders of the hormones derived from endocrine glands, including thyroid disease (high and low thyroid), adrenal problems, early and late puberty, tall and short stature, failure to gain adequate weight, obesity, pituitary problems, low blood sugar, early and late puberty, hirsutism, severe acne and menstrual disorders in girls. We also offer expertise in genetic disorders associated with endocrine and hormonal issues, such as Turner syndrome, Prader-Willi, Klinefelter syndrome, McCune Albright syndrome and pseudohypoparathyroidism.
We have one full-day clinic staffed with two UNC faculty physicians and one nurse practitioner in Raleigh each week. We see new patient referrals and provide follow-up care for established patients.
