Pediatric Nutrition Services
The N.C. Children’s Specialty Clinic has a full-time dietitian who, in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team, provides individual counseling to families of infants, children and adolescents with a wide range of nutritional disorders. These include failure to thrive, feeding issues, obesity, gastrointestinal, endocrine and pulmonary disorders, as well as tube-feeding and TPN management.
The nutrition counseling session includes a comprehensive nutritional assessment pertaining to the patient’s medical history, clinical status, growth, medications, laboratory data, diet history and/or nutrient analysis. The intervention consists of a detailed treatment plan, education and appropriate guidance materials for home use.
The nutritional assessment and treatment plan will be shared with the patient’s health care providers, to allow this information to be integrated into their overall medical care.
This service is provided by Elizabeth G. Dunn, RD, LDN, who has been a registered and licensed dietitian for 16+ years.
