Pediatric Pulmonology Clinic
Specialists in the Pediatric Pulmonology Clinic are
part of the UNC
Division of Pediatric Pulmonology at N.C. Children’s Hospital, a
program ranked 9th in the nation on U.S. News and World Report's
2010-2011
"America's Best Children's Hospitals" list. We see both new and return
patients in Raleigh, with an emphasis on children with asthma,
wheezing, chronic cough, chronic lung disease of prematurity and other
unusual lung diseases.
Specialty services include:
- PFT Lab - We have Wake County's only pediatric pulmonary function testing lab. Complete lung function testing will be performed, if needed during the comprehensive pulmonology appointment.
- Asthma Education - Our on-site respiratory therapist provides asthma education at clinic.
- Allergy Skin Tests - Standard allergy skin tests relevant to asthma are available, although more complex allergy issues should be handled by an allergist in the Pediatric Allergy Clinic.
Children with complex chronic respiratory diseases who need multi-specialty care (e.g. cystic fibrosis, tracheostomy status, ventilator dependent children, or other Children’s Airway Center patients*) should be referred to our existing clinic at the Children’s Hospital in Chapel Hill.
*The N.C. Children’s Airway Center provides integrated care for children with complex airway/breathing problems by combining providers from pediatric ENT, pulmonary, speech and respiratory therapy, and social Work.Appointments
