Dermatology
Overview
The Department of Dermatology holds twelve pediatric and adolescent dermatology clinics each week, treating acquired and genetic skin disorders in children of all age groups.
The department's pediatric specialists provide comprehensive care for patients suffering a variety of skin, nail and hair conditions, including acne, dermatitis (both atopic and contact), psoriasis, ichthyosis, keratosis, a range of bacterial, viral and fungal infections, and birthmarks and acquired skin growths (e.g., moles, hemangiomas, port-wine stains and other lesions and vascular malformations), among others. They also specialize in conditions that are difficult to diagnose or treat and offer coordinated long-term management of chronic conditions.
The department's physicians see outpatients at Southern Village in Chapel Hill, less than a mile south of UNC Hospitals off 15-501 South. Patients requiring inpatient care are admitted to N.C. Children's Hospital. Learn more about the Department of Dermatology's clinical offerings by visiting the department's clinical services page.
