Overview

Physicians within the Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine offer comprehensive general pediatric care to children from birth through adolescence at North Carolina Children’s Hospital's outpatient clinics in Chapel Hill and Raleigh. The division's faculty is comprised of eighteen pediatricians, one nurse practitioner, and a Ph.D. specialist in health behavior and injury prevention.

This division's faculty holds responsibility for the medical care of children in the newborn nursery, the inpatient hospital setting, the outpatient clinic (including well child care) and the following specialty services: diagnostic, adolescent, hospital follow-up, and maltreatment evaluation. It also staffs the child abuse call system through the Beacon Program and is linked to the UNC Injury Prevention Research Center and the Child Medical Evaluation Program, a statewide program for identifying child abuse.
