Occupational Therapy / Physical Therapy

Overview

The pediatric section of the Department of Occupational and Physical Therapy cares for children from birth to 21 years of age who have congenital, orthopaedic, neurologic, genetic, and/or acquired dysfunctions secondary to illness or injury. The department's therapists work with N.C. Children's Hospital's inpatient population and additionally offer outpatient therapeutic services. All services are provided in response to physician referral, and the department accepts referrals from physicians, both internal and external to the Children's Hospital.

Special Services

Special services include, but are not limited to, developmental testing, pulmonary treatment, feeding assessment and treatment, casting/orthotic/splint fabrication, constraint induced therapy, aquatics, gait training, wheelchair and adaptive equipment assessment, sensory integration, fine and gross motor skills development, ADL training, and sensory processing intervention.
